Updating Maximo Classifications Using MaxQuickLoad®

Importing Classifications

You can import and update Maximo classifications using MaxQuickLoad.

Prerequisites:

You must create the MQLMXCLASSIFICATION object structure and import it into MaxQuickLoad. See Create the Classification Object Structure section below.

Configure the MaxQuickLoad Classification Object Structure

You must create a MQL Classification object structure to import and update Maximo Classifications using MaxQuickLoad.

Prerequisites:

You must have administration level access to Maximo and the rights to the Object Structures application.

Procedure:

To create an object structure to load classifications, complete the following steps:

  1. First, duplicate the predefined MXCLASSIFICATION Object Structure to a new MaxQuickLoad Classification Object Structure.
    Why? You should never modify the Maximo predefined integration content, including object structures, publish channels and enterprise services.
    a. In the Object Structures application, select the MXCLASSIFICATION object structure.
    b. From the Select Action menu, select Duplicate Object Structure
    c. Specify a name for the new object structure, for example MQLMXCLASSIFICATION
    d. Set the description to MaxQuickLoad Classification Definition
    e. Save the Object Structure.
    f. Verify the inbound processing class is set to:

          psdi.iface.app.classify.MaxClassificationProcess

  2. First, we want to duplicate the predefined MXCLASSIFICATION Object Structure to a new MaxQuickLoad Classification Object Structure.

  3. Why? You should never modify the Maximo predefined integration content, including object structures, publish channels and enterprise services.
    a. In the Object Structures application, select the MXCLASSIFICATION object structure.
    b. From the Select Action menu, select Duplicate Object Structure
    c. Specify a name for the new object structure, for example MQLMXCLASSIFICATION
    d. Set the description to MaxQuickLoad Classification Definition
    e. Save the Object Structure

  4. Next, we must include several attributes in the MQLMXCLASSIFICATION Object Structure.
    Why? Several attributes are not included in the predefined Classification Object Structure that are required for the interface to work correctly.
    a. Verify you have selected the MQLMXCLASSIFICATION Object Structure
    b. From the Select Action menu, select Exclude / Include Fields
    c. In the Source Object List, select CLASSSTRUCTURE
    d. Click the Persistant Fields tab tab to display the persistent fields.
    e. Uncheck the Exclude checkBox for the following fields:
         HASCHILDREN
         CLASSSTRUCTUREUID
    e. Click OK

  5. Next, generate the schema files
    Why? This step updates the XML schema for the new MQLMXCLASSIFICATION Object Structure.
    a. From the Select Action menu, select Generate Schema / View XML
    b. Click OK to generate the schema and open the View XML form.
    c. Click OK

  6. Import the new MQLMXCLASSIFICATION object structure into MaxQuickLoad.
    Why? You must import Maximo Object Structures to use them in MaxQuickLoad.
    a. Open MaxQuickLoad.
    b. From the Excel menu, select MaxQuickLoad > Data Objects.
    c. In the Server drop down field select the Maximo server you want to use.
    d. Click Add/Remove to open the object structure selection form.
    e. Select the MQLMXCLASSIFICATION object structure.
    f. Click OK.
    g. Click Close.
